Olive* Star Families

Olive Star Families include National Guard and Reserve service members and their families. These part-time service members balance civilian lives with military responsibilities but often lack full access to military resources.

Formerly identified by Valor Institute as Green Star Families, this category was renamed Olive Star Families to avoid confusion with the emerging Green Star designation for families bereaved by military or veteran suicide. Please excuse any overlap as we transition to the new label.  The importance of these critical families in the military community has not changed.
